I was drawn into this New Yorker article about TMZ and its founder Harvey Levin. –Caitlin Eck, publicity manager

I’ve studied quite a lot about Japanese and Korean Zen Buddhism over the years, but I know next to nothing about Tibetan Buddhism, so I’m digging into Robert Thurman’s book Inner Revolution right now. –Allison Felus, production manager

I’m reading If on a Winter’s Night a Traveler by Italo Calvino. (FYI, some of the Goodreads reviews are as much fun as the book itself.) –Ellen Hornor, project editor

I was lucky to snag an advance reader copy of Lyndsay Faye’s Jane Steele, which can be elevator pitched as a Gothic Jane Eyre-meetsDexter. Jane Steele, like Jane Eyre, is cruelly mistreated by her aunt, cousin, people at her school…but Miss Steele doesn’t just survive, she leaves the bodies of her enemies in her wake. She also swears, is no blushing maiden, and it’s not just her broody beau Mr. Thornfield with the dark secrets in the relationship. Oh, and Jane Eyre is the reason she’s writing her story. It’s a wickedly delightful read.  –Mary Kravenas, marketing manager

I’m reading the third book in the Red Rising series, Morning Star. I’m not even going to try to explain what it’s about because there’s so much packed into it, but it’s exceeding my expectations so far. –Emily Lewis, editorial and marketing assistant

My friend gave me her copy of Euphoria, which I’d somehow never heard of despite its many accolades. Apparently there’s something in the water around here, since I learned earlier this week that Lindsey recently read it as well. The anthropology major in me loved this novel inspired by the life of Margaret Mead…so I just checked out a Mead biography from the library. –Meaghan Miller, senior publicist and social media coordinator

I’ve been sporadically reading Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest. I picked it up because the only other piece I’ve read by Wilde is The Picture of Dorian Gray. Thought I should familiarize myself with more of his work. The play is hysterically funny. I also recently read Euphoria, which I picked up at my local bookstore, lured in by the gorgeous cover and all the gold foil stamps touting its appearance on “Best Of” lists. I really enjoyed the anthropological/historical setting, but I was bored by the love triangle plot. (Romance isn’t really my bag.) Still, it was fine reading. It turns out that Meaghan also read it recently, so it was fun to compare notes with her.  –Lindsey Schauer, project editor

I recently bought The Defender: How the Legendary Black Newspaper Changed America by Ethan Michaeli after hearing him in a discussion with Rick Perlstein at 57th Street Books. It’s a masterfully written history that spans a century, and is certainly one of the best books ever written on African American journalism. –Yuval Taylor, senior editor

-compiled by Emily Lewis
